A Well Deserved Win for Radovic

The Stawell Amateur Athletic Club held the Howden’s Of Stawell 8 km Handicap in wet slippery conditions. Twenty-four Senior runners lined up for the start.

The front markers were suited to the conditions and made the back markers work hard, but eventually it was Gaynor Radovic who greeted the judges for an easy win, a fitting reward for her many strong performances this season.

Steve Baird came in second, with Fiona O’Brein third. Col Barnett ran a great time of 28 min 47 sec. Jacinta Collier was fastest female in a time of 35 mins 41 sec.

Thirteen Juniors ran over 3 km course with Adam putting in a strong performance in the wet and muddy conditions to come home a clear winner from Emily with Jessica in third place.

The fastest Juniors were Marcus in 12 min 3 sec, and Lucy in a time of 12 min 49 sec.

The Sub-Juniors ran a 1.5 km race with a good field of sixteen lining up for the start. McKenzie was the first to head off and kept the lead to the finish line, to win from Elly with Hannah third.

Nathan had the fastest time of 6 min 17 sec with Sophie being the fastest girl in a time of 6 min 35 sec.

With half the season over the Senior Aggregate is still wide open with John Collins on 77 points followed by Peter Blair on 72 points.

John has not ran the last few races but is still in the lead. Runners to watch out for are Gaynor Radovic, Meg Parnaby, Steve Baird and Rhonda Clark.

Hugh leads the Junior Aggregate with 40 points, but close behind are Thomas, Shaun and Marcus who are all on 37 points.
