Drew wins the Mitre 10 Classic

A perfect day for a 16km run greeted the field for the David O.Jones Mitre 10 Handicap.

Two laps of the figure 8 course in the middle of the Ironbarks saw Angus Campbell with the fastest time of 1:05:00. He is training for the Cairns to Port Douglas Ultra 120km trail run and spending plenty of time in the Ironbarks training for the upcoming event.

With 6 weeks to the Melbourne marathon, many runners are completing long runs at this time of the year. The handicap order matched the run times with Drew Cristian winning, Nathan Baker second, and Shaun Ellis third.

Drew has been very consistent throughout the season and may be in line for some trophies at the presentation night, September 10th. Next Saturday 27th August, the SAAC club will meet at Halls Gap cricket oval, 9:30 am for the Lois Tremble 5km King & Queen of the Mountain.
