Inspired by the words of our living legend and founder of the club, Keith Haymes. Terry Jenkins won the 5km race in a time of 27:05.
It’s an honour to win the Keith Haymes Championship
Terry Jenkins
Due to a leg injury, Terry almost missed the race because he didn’t train all week. “I don’t mind a hilly course” explained Terry, and “won’t run a time like that unless I was chasing Sienna.”
Sienna Santuccione beat Terry by 4 seconds, but after handicaps were adjusted, Terry claimed victory with a 6-second margin.
Drew Christian continued a strong recovery from injury to finish third.
Jess Maffescioni was the fastest female in a time of 22:39, and Nathan Baker the fastest male in a time of 20:50.
The club also welcomed Joel Freeland who completed his first SAAC event.
In the sub-junior division, Will Freeland continues his strong form, finishing fastest in the 1km race in a time of 4:19. It would be Alfie Freeland who not only debuts but would claim victory once handicaps were applied, in a stellar time of 5:14. Brothers Henry and Oscar Ellis placed second and third.
The next club event is the Hunter Gardens & landscaping Handicap on the 23rd of April. Please meet at Concongella Hall, 71 Concongella School Rd, Concongella at 9:30 for a 10am starts.
