The day started with 19 sub juniors battling it out over the 1 km David O Jones Mitre 10 course. With adjusted handicaps 13 runners were all within 60 seconds of each other. Ethan Jones crossed the line with the fastest time 4:24, Will Freeland finished third, Sophie Fletcher and Emila Jones were tied for second place and Ava Brilliant winning for the first time.
There was a field of 20 runners for the senior Championship run, Jess Cass and Nathan Baker posted the fastest times. Drew Christian continues to improve finishing third behind Rhonda Rice in second with Marnie Portelli winning in a time of 25:38 some 40 seconds ahead on adjusted handicaps. The mother of two who is training for a 10km fun run has been enjoying the sport for nearly 10 years. She has completed several fun runs and now she has won her first race. Marnie is studying part time and hopes to complete her course this year whilst enjoying her running.
