Alexa Duke continued her impressive form this season to take out the Stawell Amateur Athletic Club Garry Rice Handicap held last Saturday at Dadwells Bridge.
Run over a flat 5km course, 22 senior runners lined up for the third last race of the season.
Finding the flat conditions to her liking, Duke forged to the front with 1km to go, and managing to hold off the fast finishing Col Barnett, made it her third win for the year. Ivan McDonald ran well to finish third.
Col Barnett ran the quickest time, a very fast 18mins 1sec. Susie Ellis was the fastest female in 22min 47sec.
With few races left until the end of the season, the Aggregate is still wide open, with Col Barnett and Bob Freeland both on 107 points, Steve Baird on 105, Alexa Duke on 100, and five more runners still in with a chance.
The junior race was a 5km handicap with a field of 10 runners lining up for the start. Hugh Scott showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels to win by 30 seconds from Naomi Jamieson and Thomas Blair third.
Karl Scott ran the fastest time of 20min 47sec. The fastest girl was Naomi Jamieson in 24mins.
The junior aggregate is also close with Nathan Watson taking over the lead by one point from Emily Parnaby, who did not finish last Saturdays race. Karl Scott is one point away in third.
The sub-juniors ran a 1500m race with front marker Georgia Barnett running well to hold off last weeks winner Lachlan Hamilton to win, with Elly Barnett coming in third.
Jack Butler ran the fastest time of 5min 46sec. Fastest female was Heidi Sudholz in 6min 9sec.
