On a special day honoring Keith Lofthouse the club gathered in the Ironbarks for a 6.5km challenging course.
Fastest across the line was Bridget Spackman from Ballarat who joined her husband and sons in honour of Keith.
On adjusted times Belinda Amess won ahead of the fastest male Colin Barnett and Simon Edge claimed third place.
“I kept thinking every time I dug that bit deeper for the sprint finish how much I appreciated Keith’s training from his speed sessions and I didn’t want to let him down,” said Belinda.
She joined the club last year and trains with Run Chicks on a Wednesday morning.
After an injury early in the year, Belinda hopes to build toward a half marathon in September, initially, she started out with the club wanting to finish a 5km race last year. “I love our club and how everyone encourages each other no matter what pace you’re running,” said Belinda.
The sub-juniors raced around a loop track with Jerome Baker winning. Archer Spackman finished fastest and we wish him well in the state cross country meet this week.
