Horsham Clean Sweep for 16km

Sharon Howden still managed a win despite taking a tumble near to the finish 5 seconds ahead of Vicki Tyler and coming in third Colin Barnett who was the winner of last week’s 10 kilometre race.

Sharon said that was good to make amends for running an extra kilometre in last week’s race. “I had Vicki close behind the whole race and that fall near the finish could have cost me the race. I think it’s the marathon training that got me there”.

The runners coming every week run at Stawell have given our club a welcome addition to our numbers. They like running here because there are hills here. A few years back, it was so popular with Horsham that Horsham runners outnumbered the locals. Sharon and husband Gary have been involved with the club over many years with both running in races and running of the club. Vicki and husband Kel have participated in many races over the years. Col Barnett has been with the club since he was a lad and has an impressive record to show for it.

It is not too surprising that Horsham runners do well in the longer races. With the lack of hills available they make up for by running longer distances.

In the Sub-Juniors race over one kilometre, Jay Jay Nitschke prevailed over Olivia Hunter and brother Jordan Nitschke.

There will no race this coming Saturday and the club will meet at the clubrooms next Saturday (16 th ) for a 10 kilometre Young’s Sportspower race.

Fun runners are welcome.
