Drew Storms Home to Victory

On a true Autumn day, the SAAC cross country runners met at the Bonnie Dundee track for the Stephen Baird Handicap, with the infamous uphill finish.

Drew Christain claimed victory in a fast time of 23:31 ahead of  Claire Davies and Peter Hilbig.

It was Drew’s second SAAC win from 2 seasons of running. He enjoys the fitness, family-friendly club and the well-being benefits of running.

Drew has a bigger goal of completing the Melbourne Marathon later this year in October.

Nathan Baker was the fastest male and Jess Maffescioni was the fastest female.

In the sub-junior division, Hunter Davies ran well to claim the win ahead of Claire Christain and Eva Harrison.

Nash Santuccione was the fastest runner in the sub-juniors.

The next SAAC race is the S&K Watson Handicap Saturday 21st May, registration at the clubrooms from 9:30 am for a 10 am start.

Please meet afterward at the clubrooms for a morning tea, as well as a fundraiser to raise funds for the fight against MS “50km in May” campaign.
