Alexa Wins Convincingly

Steggall’s Grampians Physiotherapy H/cap

Stawell Amateur Athletic Club held the popular Grampians Physiotherapy 6.5 km race along the Stony Creek Track at Halls Gap on Saturday. A large field of twenty-nine Senior runners lined up for the start in overcast conditions.

The front markers set a steady pace with Alexa Duke looking very strong throughout the race, finally coming home well ahead for a convincing win on her home territory. Chasing hard in second place was Phil Weight, with the ever consistent Peter Blair running a strong third.

Fastest time was Colin Barnett with 23 min 3 sec. Jacinta Collier was fastest female in a time of 27 min 11 sec.

The Junior runners ran a 2.5 km course with Shaun, determined to match his sister’s recent win, running hard all the way to take out the win from Alastair.

Marcus produced the fastest Junior time of 8 min 15 sec. Lucy was the fastest Junior girl in a very smart time of 8 min 17 sec. Watch out boys!

It was great to see sixteen children in the Sub-Juniors section, aged from 6 through to 12, competing through the bush for the 1 km dash. Sarah put in a great effort to win from the fast finishing Harry.

The fastest Sub-Junior time went to Oliver in a time of 4 min 44 sec.
